The UCI College of Medicine will receive $2 million from a cosmetics foundation to expand its research and treatment of breast cancer, college officials announced Wednesday.
The grant from the Avon Products Foundation will be spread over the next two years, said Andrew Porterfield, a spokesman for the university's College of Medicine. "It's important," he said, "because it's the second consecutive grant from Avon. This lets us continue the work we started, not only in creating new products but in helping women who otherwise might fall through the cracks."
