A 60-year-old Glendora man was killed Tuesday morning when his motorcycle slammed into the back of a tow truck here, authorities said.
The victim, whose identity was not released, was on a 1998 Honda Valkyrie southbound on the San Diego Freeway near Fairview Road about 11 a.m., investigators said. He struck the tow truck and was thrown to the ground, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver said he was traveling about 65 mph when he saw the motorcycle approaching rapidly in his rearview mirror and then felt the impact as it hit the right rear of his truck, said Officer Mark Reeves of the California Highway Patrol. The truck driver wasn't injured.
Four lanes of the freeway were closed for 90 minutes.
