War Protesters

November 02, 2001

While it is everyone's right to have free speech, I would take issue with some of the Generation Y protesters who refer to America's war on terrorism as another Vietnam ("Hundreds March to Protest War," Oct. 28).

For anyone such as myself who protested our involvement in Vietnam, there is a glaring disparity between the two. If Ho Chi Minh had attacked us on our soil and created the amount of carnage this country experienced on Sept. 11, my outrage would have been directed at him rather than the resultant war. Instead of playacting and spouting empty euphemisms, I would encourage these people to donate their time and energy to assisting the families of those who were truly victimized by the Sept. 11 attacks.
