Hearing on Bow Hunting Told of Gruesome Sight

November 16, 2001|From Times Wire Reports

Driving home with his children recently, Steve Grossman slowed and pulled to the side of the road as he passed a deer. But the family nature sighting turned into a horror show, when his 4-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter realized something was wrong.

"The deer was stunned," Grossman said, "and I noticed that it looked like it had an arrow through its face. My son started to scream."

Grossman told his story during a hearing Wednesday to discuss a city code that allows for bow hunting within city limits. Councilman Jerry Clay said the council will consider the matter.
