School Bond Measure OKd for March Ballot

November 17, 2001|From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Trustees of the Anaheim Union High School District have approved putting a $132-million bond measure for school construction and repairs on the March 5 ballot.

If the measure passes, homeowners will be assessed an extra $30 in taxes for each $100,000 of property value. The district would use the money to add classrooms at overcrowded schools, replace electrical systems and improve fire safety.

The bond measure is the district's first in at least three decades, officials said.

It is the fourth such proposal in Orange County awaiting voter approval. Anaheim elementary, Placentia-Yorba Linda and the North Orange County Community College districts will also have bond measures on the March ballot.
