SPOTLIGHT / WEEK 12

Leading Men

November 25, 2001

ERIC CROUCH

Quarterback, Nebraska

Monster game from a numbers perspective against Colorado, but blowout loss hurts. Beware of last-minute ballot changes.

Season: 203 carries, 1,115 yards, 18 TDs; 105 for 189, 1,510 yards, 7 TDs.

KEN DORSEY

Quarterback, Miami

Since Crouch might fizzle, Dorsey is sure to gain more support even though he had only 189 yards against Washington.

Season: 163 for 274, 2,417 yards, 22 TDs.

Nextat No. 16 Virginia Tech, Saturday

*

REX GROSSMAN

Quarterback, Florida

Will the fact that he's a sophomore be held against him? Not if he does to Tennessee what he has done to most every other opponent. A big game could clinch it.

Season: 226 for 344, 3,534 yards, 32 TDs.

Nextvs. No. 7 Tennessee, Saturday

*

JOEY HARRINGTON

Quarterback, Oregon

The numbers aren't as good as Grossman's, but he's older, plays in a tough conference and has the reputation for being a comeback king. Can't stumble against Oregon State.

Season: 175 for 300, 2,310 yards, 23 TDs.

Nextvs. Oregon State, Saturday

*

ANTWAAN RANDLE EL

Quarterback, Indiana

The Hoosiers won the Old Oaken Bucket from Purdue during one of Randle El's average days. Can't say that will be a boost to his chances.

Season: 189 carries, 987 yards, 9 TDs; 110 for 219, 1,566 yards, 7 TDs.

Nextvs. Kentucky, Saturday
