Government May Try to Extend Peace Mission

Macedonia said it would seriously consider seeking a three-month extension of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization military mission buttressing a fragile peace accord between the government and ethnic Albanian guerrillas.

A force of 1,000 troops was deployed in Macedonia at the end of September for a mission--code-named "Operation Amber Fox"--to protect international monitors overseeing the implementation of the peace plan.
