Harassment Complaint Against Mayor Upheld

The Nation | IN BRIEF / WISCONSIN

October 25, 2001|From Times Wire Reports

A sexual harassment complaint filed against Milwaukee Mayor John Norquist by a former aide can go forward, a state administrative law judge ruled.

Judge Allen Lawent ruled there was probable cause the city may have violated state sexual harassment and discrimination laws.

". . . The case will go our way, and I'm not worried about it," Norquist told reporters at City Hall.

Marilyn Figueroa accused Norquist of forcing her, either physically or through coercion, to have sex and denying her promised promotions. Norquist has admitted having an affair with Figueroa but denies sexually harassing her.
