Schools Tie Teacher Raises to Computer Skills

THE NATION | IN BRIEF / TEXAS

September 09, 2001|From Times Wire Reports

Under a new rule, teachers in a Dallas-area school district will have to master certain computer skills if they want pay raises.

District officials said the move was prompted in part by the large role technology has in the state's curriculum standards.

Teachers in the Northwest Independent School District will have to learn skills ranging from sending e-mail to structuring databases.
