April 07, 2002|Associated Press

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A house once owned by diminutive circus attraction Tom Thumb was severely damaged in an arson fire Saturday, officials said. No injuries were reported.

Property owner Amy Vizzo-Paniccia said the house was listed on the state's Register of Historic Places and was about to be sold.

Thumb, born Charles Sherwood Stratton, began his career in 1842 with P.T. Barnum. His height never exceeded 33 inches.
