Fashion Week May Shrink in Length but Not in Fortunes

So now that the runway shows are over, what's the future of L.A. fashion week?

"If you build buzz, they will come," said David Caruso, marketing director at IMG. The sports and entertainment marketing firm is planning to produce fashion shows for the first time here in November. The shows will probably take place over a couple of days rather than a week, Caruso said Tuesday in L.A.

IMG produces New York's fashion week and several others around the world, as well as representing a stable of talent, including top models Gisele Bundchen and Alek Wek, that Caruso hopes to tap for the runways in L.A.

Until a formal announcement is made in the next few weeks, Caruso could only say that IMG is in the process of signing a title sponsor and looking at venues for the abbreviated fashion week of the future. He would not say which designers would be invited to participate but mentioned Richard Tyler, Jeremy Scott, Rick Owens, Cornell Collins, Rami Kashou and Magda Berliner as possibilities.
