Cavic Leads Field at Foothill

Tustin senior Michael Cavic will attempt to become the second swimmer to break 20 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle in a high school meet in the finals of the Foothill Swim Games on Saturday at Santa Ana Foothill High.

Anthony Robinson became the first high school swimmer to break 20 seconds in the 50 free when he set the national record of 19.91 in 1997 while at Houston Memorial High.

Irvine is the defending boys' and girls' champion. The Vaquero girls will be trying to win their seventh consecutive title. Newport Harbor's Aaron Peirsol, who set three world records earlier this spring, will not compete in the meet, which begins at 9:30 a.m.
