Paid Internships

April 28, 2002

In light of the shortage of paid internships for college students (April 22), I would like to draw your attention to the fact that L.A. County is home to the largest paid arts internship program in the country. The L.A. County Arts Commission and the J. Paul Getty Trust give more than $1.1 million each year to support 285 internships in film, literary, performing and visual arts organizations throughout the county.

Interns receive $3,500 stipends for 10-week internships. Opportunities for this summer are currently available and are listed at http://www.getty.edu (for visual arts) and http://www.lacounty arts.org/internship.html (for film, literary and performing arts).
