Theodore R. Mitchell is on to something and needs to go further. What about all the children who have not been brought to the United States illegally yet? We need to reach out to them. The grants should expand so that we can set up universities in all the countries around the world. Why wait for illegal students to come to us?

Mitchell's proposal to provide taxpayer-subsidized college education to illegal immigrants is a bad idea. Even though the students themselves had no part in breaking the law, the fact is that they are not citizens and as such have no right to remain here at all, let alone receive Cal Grants. If they wish to attend college, they should go back to their native countries and do so.
