Saban, a Key Donor to Davis, Named UC Regent

Gov. Gray Davis on Friday announced the appointment of children's television magnate Haim Saban, a major Davis political donor, to fill a vacancy on the University of California Board of Regents.

Saban, 57, of Los Angeles, is the founder of Saban Entertainment and former chief executive of Fox Family Worldwide.His appointment must be confirmed by the state Senate.

Saban and his companies have contributed more than $400,000 to Davis since 1999, including a $50,000 donation last month.
