Last year, Jamie Sale and David Pelletier of Canada won the world championship in pairs. Today, they begin their bid to win a gold medal and become the first team from outside Russia or the former Soviet Union to win the Olympic title in 38 years. Their top challengers are two-time world champions Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze of--where else?--Russia. The American teams are Kyoko Ina and John Zimmerman of Hackensack, N.J., and Tiffany Scott and Philip Dulebohn of Newark, Del.
