Video Game Piracy Losses Nearly $2 Billion

The head of the video game industry's trade association last week told Congress that game publishers lose more than $1.9 billion a year from software piracy.

In a testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Doug Lowenstein, president of the Interactive Digital Software Assn., said piracy is most prevalent in Eastern Europe, Mexico, China and South Korea.

Worldwide sales of video games and consoles are about $20 billion a year.
