Rock 'n' roll star Glenn Frey of the Eagles has purchased a Brentwood home at about its asking price of $10.5 million.
Built in 1996, the house has six bedrooms and eight bathrooms in slightly more than 8,000 square feet, according to public records. It is on nearly an acre with a pool.
The Mediterranean-style house also has a basement with a theater and a circular driveway, Realtors said.
Frey, named with the Eagles to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, and his wife, Cindy, own another house in the area that is expected to be sold.
They also own a contemporary home on a golf course in Palm Springs. The songwriter-vocalist-guitarist and his wife are known to be golfers.
The Eagles were formed by Frey and drummer Don Henley in 1971. The soft-rock band broke up in 1982 but re-formed in the mid-1990s. Last fall the group, with only two original members--Frey and Henley--embarked on a tour for the second time since 1980.
Among songs associated with the Eagles was the group's first single, "Take It Easy," and the hit "Witchy Woman." The band is also known for the song "Hotel California."
After the band's breakup in the early '80s, the Grammy-winning Frey, now 53, recorded a number of albums as a solo artist including "No Fun Aloud" (1982), "Strange Weather" (1992) and "Solo Collection" (1995).
He also appeared in such movies as "Jerry Maguire" (1996) and the NBC series "Miami Vice."
The Eagles' "Hell Freezes Over" tour in 1994 was one of the highest-grossing tours--at more than $250 million--in pop history. The band's "Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975" is one of the biggest selling albums in the United States. And the group's other albums have consistently sold about 1.5 million records annually since 1980.
Dan Aykroyd, who plays Britney Spears' father in her new movie "Crossroads," and his wife, actress Donna Dixon, have listed their Hollywood Hills home of about 20 years for sale at $2.5 million or for lease at $19,950 a month.
The couple briefly put the home on the market two years ago, but then changed their minds. The Aykroyds have a home on the East Coast, where they have been spending more time in recent years.
Built in 1951, the Hollywood Hills estate, on nearly an acre behind gates, was also owned at one time by former Beatle Ringo Starr and at another time by the late Cass Elliot of the Mamas and the Papas.
