* Alexis Pope scored 40 points in Moreno Valley's 71-67 victory over Pomona Diamond Ranch.

* Sheridan Arredondo had 18 points and 15 rebounds as Saugus upset then-No. 19 Valencia, 61-49.

* Santa Margarita's Julia Pederson was selected most valuable player of the San Diego Mt. Carmel tournament after 29 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists in 61-49 victory over Mt. Carmel.


* With La Puente Nogales trailing, 31-20, Jackie Quan scored 19 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Nobles over Compton Queen of Angels, 43-38.

* Madeline Mejia of Lakewood St. Joseph made three free throws with 1.3 seconds remaining to force overtime, and her team went on to beat Anaheim Western, 58-54.

* San Juan Capistrano St. Margaret's defeated Cypress Oxford Academy, 36-34, on Mara Balak's fifth three-point basket with 10 seconds remaining.

* Teresa Cooper made 14 of 16 free throws and scored 36 points to give Simi Valley a 75-71 triple-overtime victory over Moorpark.

* Emily Werner's three-point basket with 25 seconds left gave North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake a 65-63 overtime victory over L.A. Fairfax.


* Tonight: Seventh-ranked Ventura Buena plays at No. 15 Ventura in a Channel League game. Santa Fe Springs St. Paul has a 17-1 record, but plays its first game against a ranked opponent when it plays host to No. 9 Torrance Bishop Montgomery.

* Wednesday: In a rematch of the Ayala tournament championship, No. 5 Long Beach Poly plays at No. 17 Long Beach Wilson in a Moore League game.

* Thursday: A big day for the parochial schools as No. 22 La Puente Bishop Amat plays at No. 9 Bishop Montgomery, Playa del Rey St. Bernard plays at St. Paul, and No. 20 Santa Margarita plays at No. 8 Santa Ana Mater Dei.
