Library System Opens 1st Electronic Branch

January 09, 2002|From Times Staff Reports

The Orange County Library system will open its first primarily electronic branch this month in Costa Mesa.

Equipped with 27 computers, the 2,400-square-foot facility will allow patrons to find and reserve materials online, check when books are due and get Internet access.

The library is scheduled to open Jan. 30 in the 3000 block of South Bristol Street in the Costa Mesa Village Shopping Center.

While similar services are offered in the library's other branches, this will be the first focused primarily on computers, a spokeswoman said.
