A look at the top events among area universities:

Women's gymnastics: UCLA at Georgia, 11:30 a.m. (PST) Sunday. The nonconference dual meet matches the teams that have won the last five NCAA titles. The Bruins won in 1997, 2000 and last season, the Bulldogs in 1998 and '99. UCLA returns defending NCAA all-around champion Onnie Willis, uneven bars champion Yvonne Tousek and U.S. Olympic team members Jamie Dantzscher and Kristen Maloney.

Men's basketball: UC Irvine at Utah State, 7:30 p.m. Friday. The defending Big West champion Aggies (11-2, 3-1) play host to the Anteaters (10-4, 3-0) in a key conference matchup. Utah State has won 31 consecutive conference games at home while guard Jerry Green and 7-foot Adam Parada give Irvine the best inside-outside duo in the Big West.

Men's volleyball: Wyndham West Coast Challenge tournament, Friday and Saturday at UC Irvine's Crawford Hall. UCLA, the NCAA runner-up last season, takes on Irvine in Friday's nightcap after USC plays Pepperdine at 5 p.m. The round-robin event continues at noon, 2, 5 and 7 p.m. Saturday.
