O'Brien, O'Brien

January 20, 2002|Jim Barrero

It isn't enough that coaches Jim O'Brien and Jim O'Brien have the same name, they also seem to constantly cross paths, look alike and now mirror each other's success.

Ohio State's O'Brien led the Buckeyes to another victory Saturday, 73-67, against No. 25 Indiana to improve to 14-2.

The Boston Celtics' O'Brien has his team in second place in the Atlantic Division, after the failed Rick Pitino experiment.

Celtic O'Brien is becoming a beloved figure in Boston. Buckeye O'Brien coached at Boston College for 11 years.

Celtic O'Brien was an assistant to Pitino with the New York Knicks from 1987-89 just after Buckeye O'Brien coached at a New York school, St. Bonaventure.

Celtic O'Brien once coached at Dayton--in Ohio where Buckeye O'Brien now rules--for five years.

Confused yet? O'no.
