January 25, 2002|Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man chasing his girlfriend after an argument plowed his car through the double glass doors of a hospital emergency room Thursday, hitting and slightly injuring her, police said.

Daunte Lavone Tognietti's car hurtled 30 feet down a hall and crashed into a wall lined with vending machines at Providence Portland Medical Center, police said. His girlfriend, who was not identified, suffered a minor cut on her forehead.

Tognietti, 23, was charged with assault and reckless endangerment.
