The company that developed the current home of music's Grammy Awards and operates the new home of Hollywood's Academy Awards is trying for three in a row with a new pitch to build a home for TV's Emmy Awards.

Over the weekend, officials from Anschutz Entertainment Group met with representatives of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, sponsor of the Emmys, to discuss putting the awards in a new 7,000-seat theater proposed for downtown Los Angeles, officials from both sides said Monday.

Television academy Chairman Bryce Zabel said Anschutz Entertainment, hopes to break ground this year and have the theater ready to host the Emmys in 2005.
