I have lived in Irvine for more than 20 years. I have raised my family here; I have made my living here; my wife and I are growing old together here.
I strongly believe that what makes Irvine special is the working relationship between the city of Irvine and the Irvine Co.--sometimes antagonistic, sometimes cooperative, but always creative--that has resulted in the planning and development of America's finest master-planned community. Sure, some people complain about the "sameness" and the fact that there's no central downtown, but most residents are happy, secure and tickled pink with their property values.
