July 16, 2002|From Times Staff Reports

Neighbors were evacuated, and a Sheriff's Department bomb squad was called to a house Monday after a resident found a live World War II-era hand grenade in the attic, authorities said.

A resident having work done to the home on South Tajauta Avenue found the grenade.

It "had all the components to make it a live grenade," Sgt. Robert Delgadillo said.
