July 24, 2002|From a Times Staff Writer

A 32-year-old man suspected of killing his mother at her Quartz Hill home was arrested Tuesday in Kern County after a pursuit by California Highway Patrol officers, authorities said.

Gary Gregory was being held in lieu of $22,000 bail at the Kern County sheriff's station in Bakersfield on charges including evading arrest, indecent exposure and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The body of Nancy Gregory, 66, was found by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies Tuesday morning in her mobile home in the 5700 block of West Avenue M. Authorities did not say how long she had been dead or how she was killed.

Gary Gregory, who was driving his mother's car at the time of his arrest, had not been booked in connection with her death as of late Tuesday.
