Pasadena's Connelly Advances in Girls' Golf

Stephanie Connelly of Pasadena eliminated Heather Wright of Houston, 3 and 2, in match play Thursday as the field was reduced to 16 in the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship at the Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield, N.J.

In today's round, Connelly will face top-seeded In-Bee Park of Eustis, Fla., who defeated Laura Caniff of Russell, Ky., 4 and 3.

In other matches Thursday, Hannah Jun of San Diego defeated C.J. Kim of Diamond Bar, 4 and 3; Allison Martin of Bakersfield defeated Catalina Marin of Colombia, 1 up; Jane Park of Oak Valley defeated Brittany Lang of McKinney, Texas, 21 holes; Amie Cochran of Torrance defeated Alice Kim of Los Angeles, 3 and 2, and Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana of Long Beach defeated Tiffany Tavee of Gilbert, Ariz., 3 and 2.

Junior golf--The hometown for Stephanie Connelly, who advanced to the round of 16 in the U.S. Girls' Junior Golf Championship on Thursday, was incorrect in a sports story Friday. Connelly is from Pasadena, Md., not Pasadena, Calif.
