City Seeks Volunteer to Help Plan Walk of Fame

June 14, 2002|From Times Staff Reports

Taking a cue from Hollywood, this rural town of about 14,000 wants to create a downtown Walk of Fame and seeks a volunteer to help with the planning.

The goal is to recognize people who have made important contributions to Fillmore and to develop another attraction for the city's railroad property and Central Park.

The volunteer would join a City Council member and a representative from the city staff in selecting designs for the Walk of Fame plaques and would help publicize the program. The appointment is for four years.

A Citizens Advisory Group application is available in the lobby at Fillmore City Hall, 250 Central Ave., or on the city's Web site: www.fillmoreca.com/cityhall/cac-apps.pdf. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. June 26.

For further information, contact Steve McClary at 524-1500, Ext. 211, or e-mail him at smcclary@ci.fillmore.ca.us.
