Doors Open to Historic Homes

On Sunday, seven homes in a range of architectural styles will be open for viewing for Pasadena Historic Highland's eighth annual Home Tour. The homes, ranging from California Craftsman to Spanish Colonial Revival, will open from noon to 4 p.m. Advance tickets may be purchased for $12.50 online at www.historic highlands.com. Tickets also are available at Motif, 1389 E. Washington Blvd., Pasadena, or may be purchased for $15 on the tour day at the corner of North Catalina Avenue and Woodbury Road. On Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., Mary Ryan, professor of American History at U.C. Berkeley, will discuss her search for an answer to the often-heard question about California's sprawling cities, in a lecture titled "Searching for a Center: The Plazas of Los Angeles and San Francisco." The Keith Haring Foundation and ABC Carpet and Home have collaborated to create and sell a special Statue of Liberty rug in a limited run of 30, with 100% of net proceeds of sales benefiting arts education programs of Lower Manhattan affected by the Sept. 11 tragedies.
