4 MTA Buses Are Involved in Accidents

Four Metropolitan Transportation Authority buses were involved in separate accidents Friday, leaving one person critically injured.

The first occurred about 6 a.m., when a garbage truck hit a bus downtown. No one was injured.

Traffic accident -- A story in the California section Saturday stated incorrectly that a garbage truck struck an MTA bus in downtown Los Angeles about 6 a.m. Friday. In fact, the bus struck the garbage truck. The circumstances that led to the accident are under investigation, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said.

An hour later, an MTA bus hit a tree in the Crenshaw district. Seven people suffered minor injuries. In Pacific Palisades at 2:30 p.m., an elderly man fell and hit a bus, injuring his shoulder.

Twenty minutes later, another elderly man was hit by a bus in Eagle Rock. He was hospitalized in critical condition.
