Spears pulls out of restaurant business

QUICK TAKES

November 26, 2002|Lorenza Munoz

Pop princess Britney Spears has severed all ties to her New York restaurant, Nyla, saying that it suffers from mismanagement.

Spears' decision comes amid an involuntary petition of bankruptcy that was recently filed against Pinky Enterprises LLC, which runs Spears' restaurant. In the petition, three vendors, Dairyland USA Corp., Ocean Clear Inc. and Sam Tell & Son Inc., allege they have not been paid in excess of $25,000. The petition was filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court last month.

In a written statement, Spears says she had no involvement in the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, which opened in June of last year.
