Today's Starters

October 13, 2002|Bill Shaikin

EDISON FIELD, 1:30 p.m.

TV--Channel 11.

Radio--KLAC (570), KSPN (1110), XPRS (1090).

Update--Kevin Appier is a good bet to go five or six innings and no more; he has pitched five innings in each of his two playoff starts and a total of 25 innings in his last five starts. Joe Mays pitched what he called the "game of my career" in the first game of this series, giving up four hits and no earned runs over eight innings of the Twins' 2-1 victory. In three starts against the Twins this year, including Tuesday's loss to Mays, Appier is 0-3 with a 4.15 ERA. In two career starts at Edison Field, Mays is 1-1 with a 1.06 ERA.
