100-Year-Old Tree May Get Landmark Status

October 16, 2002|From Times Staff Reports

Tree lovers hoping to protect a 100-year-old cedar have persuaded the city's Landmarks Commission to consider naming it a local landmark.

Panel members voted 4-0 Monday night to seek information about the tree's long-term viability if it is saved.

Official landmark designation would require several more public hearings, said acting commission Chairman Roger Genser.
