Mini Rock, Rustys Quickid Top Loaded Field

October 27, 2002|BOB MIESZERSKI

The seven 3-year-old fillies getting together in tonight's $15,000 Cypress Handicap certainly know where the wire is.

They have combined for 24 wins, topped by the five victories apiece for Mini Rock and Rustys Quickid.

Trained by Blane Schvaneveldt, Mini Rock drops into a softer spot after finishing sixth in the Mille Vessels Handicap early last month.

She cuts back to 350 yards today and is reunited with jockey Alex Bautista, who won with her in February.

A Texas-bred daughter of Royal Quick Dash, Rustys Quickid has been 1-2-3 in five of seven starts this year for leading trainer Paul Jones.

Ramon Sanchez has the call and he won with her the last time he was aboard on Sept. 7.

Rounding out the field are Slated, Corona Six Pack, Sheza Ramblin Too, Crashin Bac and Chicks Tell.

The picks: 1. Miami Moon Dust. 2. Gilali. 3. Chasen Moms Dream. 4. Brown Effort. 5. Lender. 6. Bw Old Smokey. 7. Pj Flying Phoebe. 8. Crashin Bac. 9. Alpine Socialite.

Four! Single Miami Moon Dust in the first, use Gilali and Druzjan Sf in the second, Chasen Moms Dream and Another Shooter in the third and all in the fourth.

Shots in the dark: Wuzz Up Cnc steps up in the fifth after being claimed for $8,000 by sharp trainer Adan Farias.

Juvimiss could fire fresh for trainer Kelly Lewis in the seventh.
