An Important Message About the 'Police State'

September 05, 2002

Since I've given to Democrats in the past, in this election season I get many, many solicitations from the Democratic Party for money. They talk about the need to support Social Security, less-expensive medicine for seniors (like me) and protection for the environment. But what good are Social Security and cheaper medicine and a clean environment if we live in a police state without civil rights, where corporations have usurped our democratic processes and where the government is bent on starting unprovoked and self-destructive wars? I send the envelopes back without a contribution, but with this message.

I hope the point gets through to those in power and is not just thrown in the wastebasket when they see there is no check inside. They may be discarding something they need now more than money.
