Sunday: Beth Rogers, a candidate for Congress in the 23rd District, will host a grand opening of her Oxnard headquarters from 3 to 5 p.m. The office is at 519 South C St., across from Plaza Park. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 684-0618.

Tuesday: The Santa Clara Valley Democratic Club will meet at 6 p.m. at Los Compadres Restaurant, 650 W. Harvard Blvd., Santa Paula. Steve Cummings of the Ventura County Democratic Central Committee will give a party update, and Mike Miller of Santa Paula will discuss the "No on F" campaign. Tuesday: The Greater Oxnard Organization of Democrats has invited Democrats in several local races to a 7:15 p.m. session at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3935, 300 S. Surfside Drive, Port Hueneme. Those expected to attend include Art Hernandez, Ron Segovia Dyste and Deshay D. Ford, candidates for the community college board; Albert G. Duff Sr., Andres Herrera, Martin Jones and Saul Medina, candidates for Oxnard City Council, and Helen McPherson, Maricela Morales and Jon Sharkey, candidates for Port Hueneme City Council. Thursday: Ventura City Councilman Brian Brennan will discuss his opposition to Measure A, which calls for construction of nearly 1,400 homes north of the city, during a 7:30 p.m. meeting of Ventura Citizens for Hillside Preservation at the parish hall of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 3290 Loma Vista Road. Sept. 20: Outgoing state Sen. Jack O'Connell (D-San Luis Obispo) will host a fund-raiser for his campaign to become state superintendent of public instruction from 4 to 6 p.m. at the home of Jack and Patricia Parham, 1727 Cervato Drive, Camarillo. Sept. 25: Oxnard Republican Women Federated is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. for a social hour and 7 p.m. for dinner at the Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club, 2600 S. Harbor Blvd., Oxnard. Sept. 26: The Ventura Chamber of Commerce's Political Action Committee has invited candidates in the 23rd District congressional race, a seat now held by Lois Capps (D--Santa Barbara), and the 35th District Assembly race, a seat held by Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara). Sept. 28: Claudia Bill-de la Pena, a candidate for Thousand Oaks City Council, will hold a cocktail party featuring Erin Brockovich-Ellis from 3 to 6 p.m. at the law offices of Masry & Vititoe, 5707 Corsa Ave., Westlake Village. Oct. 3: The Democratic Club of Camarillo will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. in the Adolfo Room of the Camarillo Public Library, 3100 Ponderosa Drive. Letha Marshall of the Ventura County League of Women Voters will speak about the state propositions on the November ballot.

Oct. 9: A forum for candidates in the Thousand Oaks City Council race will begin at 7 p.m. at the Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. The event is sponsored by the Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village Regional Chamber of Commerce. For more information, call 370-0035.
