This Boxcar Children mystery is about six cousins, Henry, Jessie, Violet, Benny, Joe and Alice Alden, and their dog, Watch. They all get along very well together.

In this story they look for a lost man named Bill. The Alden children's housekeeper, Mrs. McGregor, is Bill's wife. The Aldens camp at many places while they are trying to find Bill. They get caught in a rainstorm, lose their youngest brother, Benny, and get cornered in their campsite by a huge bear.

This book is about a kid who lived during the Great Depression. His mother died when he was 6. He does not know who his father is, so he is forced to live in orphanages and foster homes. One day he sets out to find his father, with only a suitcase full of clues and his possessions. Nothing can stop him.
