The characters for Scene 1 are Cleo and Mrs. Diller. They are sitting on a sofa looking at a scrapbook.
MRS. DILLER: Aaaaw, just look how cute you were, Cleo....
Cleo looks at the picture and happily wags her tail. The photo is of puppy Cleo standing in a mud puddle, looking very happy.
MRS. DILLER: You've always liked getting dirty, haven't you, sweetie?
Cleo wags her tail.
CLEO: (Proud bark!)
Mrs. Diller points to another photo of puppy Cleo, sound asleep in the middle of lots of puppy toys.
MRS. DILLER: And here you are--sleeping like a little baby! You played and played until you were so tired, you just plopped down and fell asleep!
Cleo is scratching at the scrapbook, eager to see more.
CLEO: (Eager bark.)
Mrs. Diller turns to another scrapbook page and brightens.
MRS. DILLER: Oh, I forgot about this picture! It's a photo of a large poodle wearing a crown and jeweled dog collar.
Cleo leans in to closely examine the photo.
CLEO: (Sniff, sniff.)
MRS. DILLER: That's Queenie--isn't she beautiful?
Cleo cocks her head curiously.
MRS. DILLER: Queen Ann was your grandmother. She was a very special dog--just like you!
Mrs. Diller gives Cleo a big hug and Cleo happily wags her tail. Mrs. Diller gets up and pulls a doggy-size gold tiara from a nearby drawer and holds it up proudly.
MRS. DILLER: She used to love to wear fancy collars and ribbons, but this golden crown was always her favorite!
Cleo looks up as Mrs. Diller places the crown on Cleo's head.
MRS. DILLER: There!
Mrs. Diller clasps her hands in delight at the sight of Cleo wearing the tiara.
MRS. DILLER: Oh my goodness, you look just like Queen Ann!
Cleo poses with the crown.
Tuesday: At the park.
