Audit of City-County Film Agency Is Ordered

The Board of Supervisors called Tuesday for an audit of the Entertainment Industry Development Committee, the city-county agency that assists in the issuance of film permits.

The board unanimously passed a motion that asks the film agency's executive committee to order a "comprehensive financial audit" and review of the agency's bylaws and policies.

The agency has come under investigation for possible misuse of public funds. Its officials have insisted that the agency is a private corporation, although it derives its budget by keeping a portion of fees paid to the city and county.
