September 24, 2002|From a Times Staff Writer

Authorities are searching for a man suspected of abducting his estranged girlfriend at gunpoint Monday in front of a medical supply company in Northridge.

Henry Floyd, 36, approached Nacole Richardson at 3:45 p.m. at Medtronic MiniMed in the 18000 block of Devonshire Street, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jason Lee. The couple began arguing, and when a security guard intervened, Floyd forced Richardson into his car, Lee said. Richardson works at the company.

Witnesses heard gunfire from inside the car, but it isn't known if anyone was hurt, Lee said. Floyd drove away in a light tan 1990 Honda Accord with California license plates HENDEN1.

Floyd is described as a 5-foot-5 African American, with black hair and brown eyes, weighing about 180 pounds. Richardson, 27, is a 5-foot-6 African American with black hair and brown eyes, weighing about 142 pounds.

Richardson had obtained a restraining order against Floyd, Lee said. Both are Lancaster residents.

Anyone with information is asked to call the LAPD Devonshire Division at (818) 756-8285.
