BY THE NUMBERS

*1,207 Combined yards passing by Pasadena Muir quarterback Richard Irvin against La Verne Damien, La Puente Bishop Amat and Los Angeles Loyola--all losses. Irvin completed 28 of 47 passes for 327 yards and his eighth touchdown of the season Friday in the Mustangs' 38-6 loss to Loyola.

130 First-half penalty yards against South Torrance during its 35-14 defeat of Westminster La Quinta. The Spartans led, 12-0, at halftime despite the avalanche of yellow flags.

1990 The last time Fountain Valley started the season 0-3. The Barons lost to Lake Forest El Toro, 35-34, after Charger quarterback John Abdelnour completed a pass to Ronnie Pentz for a two-point conversion in the second overtime. Fountain Valley finished the 1990 season 1-9, its worst mark in school history.

28 Consecutive victories for Lancaster Paraclete, which holds the longest winning streak in the Southern Section. Jared Nelson ran for six touchdowns and 168 yards in 15 carries as the Spirits defeated Rosamond, 56-7.

BIG WINNERS

* Laguna Beach quarterback Alex Wilson tossed two touchdown passes to Ed Hanke as the Breakers defeated Costa Mesa to end a losing streak at 12 games to the Mustangs.

* Hacienda Heights Los Altos quarterback Carlos Ordonez, a question mark last season, completed 11 of 18 passes for 247 yards and three touchdowns in the Conquerors' 41-16 victory over La Mirada.

Ordonez has completed 64.9% of his passes, averaging 21.2 yards per completion.

UPSETS

* Palmdale quarterback Jacob McCravey completed 19 of 29 passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns in a 32-16 upset of then-No. 22 Alta Loma.

Chino Hills Ayala held then-No. 20 Long Beach Jordan to negative-two yards rushing in a 37-12 victory over the Panthers. The Bulldogs also had three interceptions and forced a fumble.

FANTASTIC FINISHES

* Santa Monica stopped Venice quarterback Eddie Miller just short of the goal line on a two-point conversion with no time remaining to hold on for a 28-27 victory.

* Giovanni Hernandez kicked a short field goal with three seconds left to lift Playa del Rey St. Bernard over Santa Barbara Bishop Diego, 16-13.
