Joel Grover, who left KCBS-TV in December after heading up some of that station's most praised investigative reports, is joining an investigative team today at KNBC-TV.

Grover, who said he considered several offers from networks, local stations and syndicators, said he was impressed by KNBC's commitment to investigative reporting: "They have laid out an amazing plan for me that proves they want the best investigative team in television."

The unit, which also will include reporter Ana Garcia, will conduct long-term investigative reports similar to those Grover did at KCBS. "Much of it will be consumer-oriented," he said.

Grover, who had been at KCBS for six years, is best known for his 1997 undercover reports that led to a grading system on local restaurants.
