Democrats Avoid New Hampshire Vote Conflict

Michigan Democrats avoided a potential conflict with New Hampshire's first-in-the-nation presidential primary, settling on Feb. 7 for the party's caucuses in 2004.

The national party chairman agreed to appoint a commission that will make recommendations for changing the current nominating schedule and on whether states such as New Hampshire and Iowa should get to hold the first votes.
