Moorpark's Academic Champs to Be Feted at Rally

A victory rally with music and dance performances is planned for 10 a.m. today to honor Moorpark High School's Academic Decathlon team, which won its second national title on Saturday in Erie, Pa.

The festivities will be held in the school's gymnasium and will include speeches by city and county leaders and some of the competitors. The school's dance team, drum line, pep band and chorus will perform.

The nine-member Moorpark High decathlon team bested 37 teams from across the country to win. Moorpark won its first national title in 1999. Since 1993, the school has made it to the state-level competition eight times and finished either first or second for the last six years.
