Apparently, It's Not All About the Jewelry

August 02, 2003

Kobe, is $4 million the going price for adultery? Is that new ring enough to make up for the pain, humiliation and betrayal you inflicted on the woman who is "the air you breathe"? Is your conscience OK now?

I have a better idea. Why not take that $4 million and put plaques all over Los Angeles with the name "Vanessa Bryant" all over them? Plaques in recognition for contributing $4 million to charity. Use that $4 million to help people with autism, cancer, MS, you name it. At least something good would come out of the marital mess.

Because that ring isn't gonna work, Kobe, and I'll tell you why. Every time Vanessa looks at it, she'll remember why you bought it.

The following quote comes from "Quotable Wooden" by John Wooden and would apply to Kobe Bryant: "It is best not to drink from a cup full of fame. It can be very intoxicating, and intoxicated people do foolish things."

Jane Gallic [Viewpoint, July 26] can "personally believe" that the moon is made of green cheese if she wants to, but according to California state law, consent is not present just because a woman enters a man's hotel room. Bad judgment? A foolish decision? Well, duh ... yeah! But consent to sex? A man is then allowed to force himself upon her because she entered his hotel room?
