"KTLA Morning News" co-anchor Giselle Fernandez is leaving the newscast after today's edition.
"This has been an incredible experience. I love KTLA; I love everyone here," Fernandez said in an interview Tuesday. But she said she wanted to take some time off to spend with her husband, whom she married last November, and to pursue other projects, including working on a documentary about a boy with cancer.
Fernandez, a former host of "Access Hollywood" who has been a co-anchor of the morning news since October 2001, added that she is not enamored of the local news scene: "It's too much about car chases and celebrity."
Early morning co-anchor Sharon Tay will fill in until a replacement is named.
