Democratic Governor Easily Wins Primary

Gov. Ronnie Musgrove, 47, easily bested four obscure opponents in the Democratic primary, and ex-Republican National Committee chief Haley Barbour, 55, was defeating his lone opponent in the GOP race.

Returns showed Musgrove with 71% of the vote in his race, and Barbour with 87% in his primary. A simple majority is needed for nomination.
