After voters decide whether to recall Gov. Gray Davis, will his name appear on the ballot with the other candidates seeking to replace him?

"Absolutely not," said Rick Hasen, a professor of election law at Loyola Law School.

The California election code states that an officer who is the target of a recall effort may not be a candidate to succeed himself or herself in the recall election.

Last week, the California Supreme Court declined to consider Davis' claim that this prohibition violates the voting rights of his supporters.
