Last chance

August 21, 2003|Don Shirley

Aga-Boom: The stereotyped image of Russia is so gloomy -- winters, wars -- that the last thing one expects from Russian theater is infectiously silly fun. But that's what this clown show provides. Indeed, its finale comes closer to being literally riotous than any theatrical experience in memory. The creator and director is former Cirque du Soleil clown Dmitri Bogatirev. His colleagues are Cirque alumna Irina Ivanitska, Ringling Bros. and Great Moscow Circus veteran Alexander Chervotkin and contortionist- dancer Elena Chervotkina. The primary theme of the evening is the Sisyphean struggle to clean up our rooms -- and our world.

Ends Sunday at the Falcon Theatre, 4252 Riverside Drive, Burbank, (818) 955-8101.
